Statement following the death of George Floyd

9th June 2020

Following the death of George Floyd, Citizens Advice Lewisham adds our voice to all fighting racism and discrimination. Lewisham is blessed with a rich diversity of ethnicity and cultural heritage. It is a young and vibrant place to live. And yet, it sustains high levels of inequality which disproportionately affect Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic people. It is as important now to stand together just as it was at the time of the New Cross fire, the National Front march through Lewisham High Street and the tragic murder of young Stephen Lawrence.

This statement is not just symbolic of our solidarity with others who have taken a stand but also, signifies our profound commitment to continue to tackle racism and discrimination in all its forms.
