Welcome to Citizens Advice Lewisham (CAL), an independent local charity celebrating 80 years of dedicated service to those living and working in the London Borough of Lewisham. Our team of staff and volunteers provides advice and information on a wide range of issues, including:
- Welfare benefits
CAL is committed to providing an open and accessible service for all, but we are especially concerned for the most vulnerable.
We are proud of the service we provided last year:
- Assisted 14,204 individuals and families
- Generated £1.6m for clients in income and benefits
- 59% of our clients identified as BAME
We are the lead agency for Advice Lewisham, a partnership of information and advice providers across the borough. Together, we provide the freephone Lewisham Advice Line service.
Among our other significant partnerships is a new venture with the Southwark Law Centre: The Lewisham Law Service (LLS). Supported by Trust for London, LLS already provides access to Employment and Housing advice via legal aid, and in due course will also cover Immigration matters.
All this is achieved with core funding from Lewisham Council, a series of major grants and contracts from national and local agencies and a great deal of commitment from our fantastic group of staff and volunteers.
