The Trustees of CAL announce that Sukhvinder Kaur-Stubbs will be leaving Citizens Advice Lewisham and stepping down as Chair of the Advice Lewisham Partnership.
Since joining CAL four years ago, Sukhvinder has transformed CAL – making it financially resilient, developing high quality services, connecting with the community and working with partners. She placed great emphasis on staff development and wellbeing especially during the pandemic when she led the team to even greater productivity and more channels of service. Sukhvinder has been innovative in her approach, identifying and responding to emerging and hidden needs in the borough. The Community Labs supported by the deep Data Dives have shone a spotlight on those whose voices are seldom heard and sought to address inequalities. Her partnership work has been exemplary including the Advice Lewisham Partnership which has scaled up to serve 30,000 residents. Working with the Southwark Law Centre, she helped establish the new Lewisham Law Centre.
Speaking on behalf of the Trustees, Cosette Reczek said “Sukhvinder has been a great asset to CAL and left a strong legacy in the borough”.
Sukhvinder said “It has been a privilege to serve at community level at the front-line of service delivery but it feels the right time to return to working at national and regional level and translate real-life experiences into effective policy and practice. As a local resident, I remain committed to supporting my community”.
Mayor Damien Egan said ‘Sukhvinder has made a huge impact during her time at Citizens Advice Lewisham, forging innovative partnerships across the borough and rolling out improvements to make sure many more people are able to access valuable advice services in Lewisham. During the pandemic, under her leadership Citizens Advice Lewisham has been a lifeline to thousands of Lewisham residents – many facing financial hardship – in particular ensuring that our most vulnerable residents receive the support they need. It’s been a pleasure to work in partnership with Sukhvinder – she will be missed and I wish her well for the future and in her new role.’
Citizens Advice Lewisham wishes Sukhvinder the best for the future.
Recruitment is underway for her successor.
